Checkout & payments
Start with the journey that turns a visit into a recorded order.
Follow a campaign link, choose a variant, and finish a test checkout in an agreed test environment. Keep the test order reference.
Confirm a failed or cancelled payment gives a clear next step, and only a confirmed payment advances the order as expected.
Use representative destinations. Compare shipping, configured taxes, currency, and discounts with the expected totals.
After testing, verify the intended live payment configuration. Plan test mode carefully: it can stop customers placing real orders. Shopify test-order guidance
Offers & stock
Test the boundary of each rule, using the offer your business approved.
Try the advertised code or automatic offer on an eligible product, an excluded product, and a basket with an existing discount.
Change quantities around a shipping or discount threshold. Check whether the rule uses the amount before or after discounts.
Check the store, scheduled campaign, offer copy, and countdown agree on when the promotion starts and ends.
In a controlled setup, check the last available unit, an unavailable variant, and the stock change after an order or cancellation.
Order handoff & integrations
A paid order should be visible to the people and systems that fulfill it.
Trace the test reference from the store into the warehouse, task queue, or other destination. Check products, quantity, address, and payment status.
If you have a custom event integration, replay a test event and inspect the destination for a second shipment or task. Stripe webhook guidance
In a test setup, interrupt a destination, restore it, and confirm missing work can be recovered without overwriting a newer status.
Check the order reference, amount, delivery details, and the inbox or queue staff actually monitor. Keep test messages out of customer workflows.
Mobile & customer experience
Look for obstacles along the same buying path you expect shoppers to use.
Check variants, quantity, cart updates, address errors, and payment controls. Make sure banners and the on-screen keyboard do not block them.
Check a campaign page, product page, and cart. Record issues worth fixing; one lab score does not establish the experience of real shoppers. Google Web Vitals guidance
Check the actual links scheduled for email and ads, including product availability, destination pages, and the return path to the store.
Use the form or contact route shown to customers. Confirm the right person receives it and can find the relevant order.
Recovery & ownership
Decide who handles a problem and how the team returns to a known working state.
Keep the last working version of custom code or a theme, and a specific rollback plan for the changes you intend to release.
For self-hosted stores, rehearse restoration separately. For a managed platform, check coverage of settings, themes, app data, and exports.
Make sure someone can pause a failing connector, reconcile affected orders, and hand off work through a visible manual queue.
Agree how test transactions are identified and excluded. Save a clean pre-sale export or report for comparison. WooCommerce test-order guidance
